Leadership and Commitment Thanks to the committed group of individuals who donated substantial sums of money and labour to build the current Mount Forest Curling Club. This facility has served the Club for over 50 years. With the failure of the ice plant, we again require leadership and financial commitment in order to ensure curling remains a vibrant part of the community for years to come.

Club History A curling club was organized in Mount Forest in 1880 with the club incorporating in 1963. It has operated from the existing building since 1965. The facility was built by H. Bye Construction with an innovative suspended ice surface. The core piece of equipment in the refrigeration plant has served the club faithfully since that time.
Curling club news ,, 🥌🥌🥌
On Wednesday morning of last week, the new 'Ice Plant' was delivered to the Mount Forest Curling Club. Following a catastrophic and somewhat expected equipment failure last February the club was shut down and playing members where forced to drive out of town to finish out the curling season. Our neighbours in Harriston offered up the use of their club and we can't thank them enough for the kind support so freely given.
The new ice machine had been placed on order in January 2023 only following the successful Ontario Trillium Foundation application that had been submitted in August of 2022.
The original ice plant was installed approximately 58 years ago and through the excellent maintenance and care given lasted a record number of years for this type of equipment.
Support given by the membership, past members, and the Township of Wellington North has made it possible for the curling club to continue to offer curling to local citizens and organizations.
The new 'Ice Plant' will be operating totally from outside of the existing building, which brings numerous advantages including operating efficiency's, earlier start up's, later shut down's, consistent quality ice keeping, and much needed safety for the operators'. Following extensive startup training the goal of the club will be to have the ice ready for curling in early November.
The Mount Forest Curling Club, est 1880,, would like to thank the Mount Forest and area community for 140 + years of caring and support.
Any and all interested persons wishing to learn how to curl and join a local social or competitive sport club, please check out our web-site or contact the membership committee for more information.

Ice Plant Compressor
This original compressor has now failed. The Club had anticipated this possibility and had applied for a Trillium grant in the fall of 2022 receiving $146,000 in December. In total, the compressor, installation, commissioning and setup is estimated to cost $210,000.
Infrastructure Renewal
The Club has other pieces of key infrastructure that are also old and in need of replacement. The two furnaces serving the spectator lounge and downstairs change rooms must be replaced. Repairs following water and mould damage downstairs will be completed, the kitchen is in need of modernization and the club requires a new ice scraper. While replacing the furnace, air conditioning could be added to increase summer usage of the spectator lounge and rentals.
