The Strathcona Cup Tour 2023
Through a special Canadian Curling selection committee the Mount Forest Curling Club est. 1880, is one of the clubs in Central Canada selected to host the 2023 Strathcona Cup on January 14, 2023.
This special event between Canada and Scotland has been taking place every five years on a rotating home and away basis since 1903 and will be celebrating its 120th anniversary while in Canada this coming year.
The Central Canada curling teams from Scotland will be playing against up to thirty curling club organizations in Ontario over a four week period and ending in Ottawa playing, about 130 eight (8) ends games.
At the same time, other teams from Scotland will be competing in the Western Canada and Eastern Canada regions. Scoring from all three regions will be totalled to find who will have the bragging rights for the Strathcona Cup until the next five years comes about.
This competition is the oldest international curling event in the world with its CUP being one of the most famous in the history of amateur curling. Sixty (60) curlers, chosen from throughout the lands of each country, enjoy the competitors country, customs, and hospitality…while representing their own country in this ancient winter sport dating back to 1541.
. . . with all of that, the goal at hand for each host club is to win the Strathcona Cup for their country.
